Originally from Lombardy, Mauro Elli graduated from the Centro di Formazione Professionale Alberghiera in Clusone, in the province of Bergamo. His first experience was on Scottish soil, in a small Italian restaurant where Mauro continued his training for four years. Returning to Italy strong with an excellent knowledge of foreign languages, English and French in primis, he practiced his profession in the most luxurious hotels of the Ligurian Riviera, including the Splendido in Portofino, and in Switzerland, particularly in the area of St. Moritz, thus alternating summer and winter seasons.
Finally, on the strength of the experience gained, in August 2003, the decision was made to open his own restaurant in which to be chef-patron, in Albavilla, in the heart of Alta Brianza, a stone’s throw from Lake Como. And it was here that in 2007 he received the prestigious award that established him as a globally successful chef: the Michelin star, which he still retains.
